Holy Spirit, who opened the vision of the consummation of the Kingdom to Your ancient seer, increase our faith that we too might see the splendor of God and the glory of the Lamb, the light of the holy city, drawing us through life in time to life eternal; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who with You and the Father are one God with dominion over us forever. Mighty God, enthroned in glory, Ruler of all good and evil, hasten the day when evil is defeated and all things are made new, that only praise and thanksgiving, unmixed with cursing and swearing, be tendered to You by all Your people; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who with You and the Holy Spirit are one God with dominion over us forever.

GOOD MORNING and welcome to the House of the LORD today! Today we turn our attention to our Epistle from Revelation chapter 7. Our Epistle concludes a longer vision about the suffering church. God’s people are treated as slaughter-sheep, suffering from war, pestilence, famine, and death. Such is part of our own experience in our world today! But it was to comfort the churches of Asia Minor and to comfort us, who also live under the cross of Jesus, that this vision was given to John while on Patmos. In the face of suffering and death and persecution, we can be very short-sighted as we endure such difficulty. Our endurance comes from faith in our Lamb, Jesus Christ, Who gives us believers the promise of eternal joy before God’s throne in endless worship of Him as our Lamb and Savior. God strength our faith and our endurance by His Word and Sacrament this morning! A Blessed Mother’s Day to you!

This morning we continue to celebrate the victory of our risen Lamb and Savior, Jesus Christ over sin, death, and the powers of hell. Today we focus on our Second Lesson from Revelation which reminds us that Jesus and Jesus alone is inherently worthy as the Lamb of God who makes us worthy before God through faith alone in Him. Our faith in our worthy Lamb Jesus also is the only thing that makes our works worthy in and through Him before the Heavenly Father. Today we join the host of heaven in singing praises to Jesus, the worthy Lamb, and our Savior! Come and worship again with us soon!

We have followed Jesus to the cross, the tomb, and now we follow Jesus out of the tomb as He rises from the dead and appears to another witness: Mary Magdalene. Jesus' Easter morning resurrection appearance to Mary Magdalene might be unexpected. After all, Mary had endured a terrible past. Jesus had cast seven demons out of her in the early part of His ministry. But Mary is chosen to be this eyewitness, and she exclaims to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord" (John 20:18). Mary is the first to see Jesus' resurrected glory and proclaim this good news, which we speak again and again today, "Alleluia! Christ is risen!"

Holy God, who loved rebellious mankind so deeply as to give Your Son for us, we are so overwhelmed by the burden of His descent from glory to awesome isolation and so equally overwhelmed by the splendor of His return to exaltation that we, so loved, are without words to thank and praise You; in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who with You and the Holy Spirit are one God with dominion over us forever.
