What We Believe
We are a congregation of believers who place our faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ. We believe we have been gathered together here in this place and at this time by the Holy Spirit in order to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins according to the command of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
As we hear the Good News in Word and Sacrament, we receive the forgiveness of our sins, life and salvation won by Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God and our Lord who was born, suffered and was crucified on the cross “(to purchase and win us) from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil… with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent, suffering and death (so that we might) be His own, live under Him in His Kingdom, and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, (even) as He is risen from the dead, lies and reigns to all eternity.”
God the Father sent Jesus to accomplish these things out of His fatherly divine goodness and mercy. He did not do this because of any goodness or worthiness in us, but because He desired to restore us wayward and sinful people to Himself for time and eternity. For all God’s mercy and goodness given to us each and every day in Jesus Christ, it is our duty to thank and praise, to serve and obey God. This we believe and live out at Christ the King Lutheran Church and Preschool.
